Tuka Beach, Kiamba

 This is the wonderful beach.

Hello Summer! Hello Tuka Beach, Kiamba! Our first and last shot this summer because of too busy schedule.

Going to Kiamba from Gensan is only 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours. It depends on the kind of vehicle you have. You may travel via private or commute via van. I do not know the rate for van because we had the private vehicle. For a multicab ,that's Php 2500 gasoline going there and going back.

This is my "pogi" son and this is his first time to ride a boat. He is very happy and excited.

When you reach the Municipal Hall, you may park your car there and get to the port where the boats are waiting to sea travel. Each person including the kids should pay Php 100. The cottage is Php 300. They also collect payment for plastics, where you put your garbages. But then you have to bring it back and give it to them to refund your Php 200.

With my daughter; it is also her first time to ride the boat.

You may bring food with you and drinks. They have goggles for rent.

My kids are enjoying the water.. hahaha

Something Korean

It's been a long time since I last posted something about food. Of course my husband and I would really make it a point to dine out once a week or once every 2 weeks, so we could have bonding together as a couple. You know, date time without the kids.

It's funny though because just tonight, I really had a wonderful experience dining out with my husband in a Korean restaurant. It's a Korean fusion food. I do not really eat in restaurants with spicy food because I easily burp a lot, my stomach gets upset a few minutes after eating and there is something wrong with my tongue. I don't know but it's like that for quite a long time already. But the spicy Korean food that I tasted tonight was FANTASTIC!

We were greeted very nicely. And there were two people who greeted us. They looked so Korean (male and female). The man bowed down his head and so did we. It's their means of greeting (I saw it on Korean shows).

So we ordered those in Korean name : Takturitang, Tungkas and Jampong. I basically wanted to eat the soup alone (Jampong) because I kept on seeing this on "TV" advertisement for a particular noodle brand here in the Philippines. I like the chopsticks but I really do not know how to use it and the spoon (it's what I saw on Korean shows / the shape). And finally, the food arrived on our table.

"Jampong"

The takturitang with rice, kimchi and soda (Php 130) and tungkas with rice, kimchi and soda (Php 120) were served first. And I tasted my food. The meat is so tender. I like the taste. I also tasted my husband's food and I also like it very much and then here comes my most awaited "Jampong"(Php 150) . I smelled it and tasted it.. I closed my eyes and there was a war of the ocean in my mouth! There was that certain kick of spiciness. But t'was not too spicy, it was just right. I can taste the sweetness of the shrimp (which actually looks different from the shrimps I usually eat in our house and in other restaurants; cause it has huge head and smaller body). There was squid there, mussels, white onion, bell pepper, chicken meat and the noodles which is weird for my tongue. I always eat pancit, bihon, miki, sotanghon, canton and other noodles but it's different. It feels good. I like the Jampong!!!

Then a few minutes after, the female asked us how the food was and we said it's really good and amazing because it really is. Then after a few more minutes, the Korean old man approached us and asked how's the food. We both said it was really delicious. He said thank you and he began telling stories about the food. So, I bet he was the owner and the other one too. And I cannot help but comment "I like the jampong. I thought it is really spicy but it's just right." and then he told us "I ask Filipino friends if it's ok or not ok for Filipinos. Not too spicy, they said." and he added "the harina..noodles is from Korea".. (That's why I never tasted that here before..) I really enjoyed talking to him, he is so nice and very welcoming. Yay! I did a hand shake with him!

Really affordable. Good food. Good place. Nice crew. Very kind owners. I will be back! :D People, visit them. :D

Leisure 87: It's been a while!

Making nail art! It's been a while..

But of course! I do not want to make things difficult for you, so here's our DO IT YOUR OWN nail art instruction:

Step 1: Put a base coat. In this case, I covered my nails pink (by NICOLE polish).
Step 2: Use a nail tape to put marks and this will serve as design too.
Step 3: Use a darker shade. In this case, I used grey and just polish anywhere I'd like my gray color. (Grey color from WET N' WILD)
Step 4: Put Glitter polish on some areas too (thanks to WET N' WILD polish). Then put the top coat. You are DONE!

No difficulties putting nail art on the right finger nails. hahaha
I mastered my left hand.

Love you ladies!
Always,
Jonee Slimwitch

Dog Show 2016 for Kalilangan (General Santos City)

PUG
Cute pug just laying down there the moment we got there until the time we got out of the place.

Gensan Dog Show 2016

It's that time of the year when Gensan or General Santos City celebrates Kalilangan Festival. Kalilangan means festivity or jubilee. This is in commemoration of the Maguindanaon dialect in Mindanao. (Mindanao is one of the 3 large islands in the Philippines located at the South).

This is one of those lovely huskies there.
This husky is medium sized. There were two bigger than him. And some smaller than him.

Husky pups! I love the color of their eyes.

German Shepherd.
But my husband's German Shepherd, 7 - year old Boggart is bigger than this.

Most of the time, the Kalilangan celebration has parade of floats, dance contests, painting exhibits and some local actors / actresses visits the city for the festival. But this time, they have the DOG SHOW. This is quite wonderful! I think they have this last year as well but I was not able to see the show. This year, I really experienced watching a live DOG show in the city.

The owner of these pups are old couple who enjoys dogs very much.
There were 4 of them in one cage!
I do not know though if they are Maltese or Shihtzu. Forgive me.

This terrier / Scottish Terrier is one the contestants of the Agility Contest.
He did pretty great out there! I saw him.
Plus I remember JOCK of Lady and the Tramp movie; film originally released in 1955.

This year's dog show was held at Veranza Mall. There were literally a big number of dogs in different breeds with all the sizes from small to medium to large dogs. There were furry ones and non- flocculent ones. There was an Animal Control Unit provided by the government in case an accident would happen. They are prepared!

The huge pitbull. So massive!

This is the little Pitbull pup.

I was really amazed to see the people of different races and of different ages. They are more aware on how to take care of dogs upon my interview of probably one of the youngest dog owner there. It is a good sign that even children could take care of pets / dogs. At least some of them are not too busy with gadgets.

This little girl already knows how to take care of this little Pomeranian called "Gloc".
This little creature is so nice and she doesn't bark a lot like most of the little breeds.

There were little dogs like Pug, Pomeranian, Maltese, Chihuahua, Terrier (of different sorts and mixes) and  Shihtzu. There were huge dogs like German shepherd, Belgian Malinois, St. Bernard, Golden Retriever, Labrador, Husky and Pitbull. There were fluffy ones too like Chowchow.

Hello Asland! ooppsss. Sorry, chowchow!

Oh hello there little lion cub! Hahaha
Sorry, lovely Chowchow pup!

The dog candidates were provided with obstacle course for them to finish within a specific time frame. This was during the AGILITY contest. There was also a contest of the biggest dog. I feel too bad that I was not able to finish the whole show and didn't know who won the contests. Nevertheless, I enjoyed.
And who would forget this humongous St. Bernard.
This is the first time I saw one in my life.

It is something new in Gensan. It is something we can look forward to every year.

MML Grill (General Santos City)

Photo NOT mine.
But this was our order! It's really great!

After a tiring day, I browsed the internet for local food station that serves good food and I found MML Grill. I saw the list of their burgers and saw the photos and I was like "Wow!".. I thought at first that it was a place far away but when I saw the address : Camia Street, General Santos City, I immediately looked at all the details on the photos and when did they start serving and the I read the reviews of the customers. They got 4.7 stars, amazing! And that made me crazy! I grabbed my husband and we went looking for this place.

This is their photo which I grabbed from FB.
Thanks MML Grill, I had fun!
GENSAN BURGER

When we saw the area, it was so small. It is beside a Hello Kitty food station that looks pretty fascinating for kids and Hello Kitty collectors. I even wanted to stay there but when I smelled the burger, I couldn't wait for my husband to come near me so I went in to check out the food.

This is their photo which I grabbed from FB.

They have a very simple menu written on the board and there were like 4 staff who were really smiling and greeting us and SMILE makes a difference, what can I say!? So, I also asked what's their best seller and they said it's the CHEESE burger. To my surprise, the price was really affordable for a burger! Of course you would expect a burger to be like Php 200 - Php 300 inside the malls. But this was below a hundred pesos. That was interesting.

The making of Classic Burger

JAY PHOTOLOGY

I saw how it's grilled and prepared and while doing that, they were telling things like what MML was. MML stands for MISTER MISIS LITTLE GIRL. Cool!

I was hooked up with how their staff would greet you, talk to you, smile at you and even after we ate, they asked how was it! Unbelievable, not all burger stations do that. I dunno if they were trained or what but they love what they are doing. That is very seldom seen with the staff.

The smell of the burger is so inviting. The real food (not the photos) look tempting and mouth-watering. There was love and happiness during the preparation. The potatoes were a bit tasteless but that's probably because I ate baked potatoes which I personally prepared for my husband earlier for dinner. But the taste of the caramelized onions was so good + mushrooms + patty. There is so much going on in there. And I do not know but I guess (just a guess) I tasted wine or something. I got tipsy after eating. But the food is really great!!!!!!!! The cheese burger's cheese was homemade! How about that!?

The dessert was lovely! I like that food, Sylvanna's. It costs Php 35. The water was quite surprising because I have to ask the lady "Is that your complimentary water?" pointing at the pitcher with full of water, sliced apples and cinnamon sticks. They said "Yes!". I asked why. They explained that the food is quite heavy.

They also have pasta. They have other burgers: Classic, Cheese (the one we ordered), Korean, Japanese, Gensan, South Cot, Shawarma and Texas burgers..

Am I going to recommend this place? Yes! But my opinion might not be the same as yours, so you can try it there! Another place you would come in and visit in Gensan!

Have fun!

P.S. Aw -aw , Grace, Aya and Mayla, thank you for the wonderful experience at MML Grill! Keep it up! Wonderful food and customer service!

Sorry I borrowed your photos. I was too excited to try the burger that I forgot to take photos. I hope you don't mind.

Munting Miss Gensan Under the Sea 2015

Munting Miss Gensan 2015

With the theme: Under the Sea.. Amazing little creatures!!! I was really amazed with their costumes and how they project individually is really heart-melting.

I am utterly speechless. How come they didn't have this when I was 4 or 5 years old. Hahaha

Another lovely event you have to come and see when you visit Gensan. If you missed this year's Tuna Festival, don't worry... Next year is a good year to spend your time here in our place.

Taralets Tuna Festival 2015! (Float Competition)

That time of the year when Generals (locals of General Santos City , Philippines) celebrate the Tuna Festival. General Santos City is known as the Tuna Capital of the Philippines as it produces tuna products for the country.

A float from Mlhuillier.

With some of the dancers during the parade.

An entry from SM of Gensan
(This particular photo of SM Float is not mine, I just grabbed it from a friend in Law School)

Too bad, I wasn't able to capture everything. But most of my friends said, it was the BEST tuna festival there ever was... They even had longest "sugba" station set up at Pioneer Avenue.

Visit Gensan!!!
