D' Leonor Inland Resort, Davao

One of the best ways to spend a weekend getaway is to have it well spent with your loved one. So, for our tour today, I had a date with my husband (that's to catch up with him and have quality bonding time after a year of being away from each other).

Since, my husband and I really don't have the luxury of time, we just had our tour after his seminar in Davao City, a neighboring city of General Santos.

D' Leonor Inland Resort is quite far from the heart of Davao but once you get there, the travel is worth it.

How to get to D' Leonor: You either ride a taxi from the bus terminal or use a private vehicle and just ask the people there about the location if you don't have a map of Davao with you. People in Davao are very friendly. They will give you the directions. The cab fare from the terminal is more or less Php200 , depends which way will the driver use.

Main Gate Entrance Fee:
Adult - Php 50
Kid - Php 30

The entrance fee includes a free tour via shuttle, sightseeing and picture taking. Plus they also have WIFI connection on selected areas. However, one comment on the lady in - charge in the main gate last December 15, 2013 -- she was NOT FRIENDLY and NOT ACCOMMODATING. She obviously works for MONEY alone and if I were to rate her for her customer service from 1-10 and 1 is the lowest, she got a pure ZERO. That's a point of view from a former Customer Service Trainer (wink).

Good thing though that she's the only one who is not accommodating because the REST of the people / STAFF here were so KIND and VERY HOSPITABLE.

This is what you can find when you enter the compound -- the elephant plus the map.

The whole area is so huge and they have different amenities. There are even several ways you could get into one spot to the other. You could use your feet and travel on foot , you could ride the free shuttle or try the most exciting ways; cross the hanging bridge, cable wire or zipline. Just choose one and you will definitely love it. Hanging bridge, cable wire and zipline were constructed not only to amaze visitors and tourists but to let you feel the thrill while crossing one spot to the other. Walking is quite boring, it is exercise but boring. If you want the best of cardio exercise, do either of the three and you will definitely have non - stop heart pumping. hahaha Hanging bridge is FREE.

Once you cross the bridge, you will find the CABLE WIRE RIDE. This ride operates from 8 AM - 5PM at Php 250 per adult and Php 150 per child. Each ride has a maximum of  4 people and it is a must that there should be adults when there is a child riding.

This ride is one of the several ways you could use to cross the mini forest in order for you to get to the Golf area and Segway. You can ride 2x for the amount that you paid.

Upon reaching the end point of the ride, you will see the HILL TOP VIEW. Although we skipped this part, you may try entering the hall if you would love too. We were so excited to try outdoor recreation areas.

Just beside D' Hilltop is one of the outdoor reaction areas --> ERIK'S SEGWAY. Erik was named after the grand child of the owner according to the staff.

Segway opens from 8AM - 5PM, Php100 for 5 minutes. Practice is not included in 5min time provided. Protective gears are provided for the customer's safety. SAFETY FIRST before anything else.

And off goes my husband for his ride.

Next stop is the MINI GOLF area.

MINI GOLF area opens from 8AM - 5PM. The fee is Php 100 per person with free use of putter and ball. The entire area has a Japanese theme.

After playing golf, we fed fishes. Food for the fishes costs about Php 5.

And off we went to ATV ride! That's my husband below. He already paid for the ride, so I didn't have any choice but to drive one!

ATV ride is Php250 per person for 15minutes. This area opens from 8AM - 5PM.

The staff in this area were so customer friendly. They really guided me until I got a hold of the ride. They had initiative (which I seldom see from other staff in any establishments). A simple way of saying "Ma'am, do you have a camera so we could take a photo of you..." was already a good sign of displaying initiative. No matter how expensive or cheap the ride would be, I pay not only for the experience but for the customer service! Thumbs up for the crew who were assigned here.

Photo below was when we rode the shuttle. Yipee! Free ride!

We're off to get some food. Restaurant opens at 7AM until 10PM. After eating, we headed out since we didn't have much time.

Surfing area here. 1 hour of surfing is Php 2500 for a maximum of 10 pax.

Artwork UBER-Load (Kublai Artwork Display, Ponce Suites, Davao)

Since I go GAGA over paintings and any artwork, I am going to take you to Davao, where you can find Kublai's ARTWORK UBERLOAD.

Kublai's paintings are displayed in Ponce Suites, Dona Vicenta, Bajada, Davao City, Philippines. Ponce Suites is a hotel. However, good news to those who would like to have a tour as walk-in visitors just to take a look at his work because the entrance fee is only Php20 (as of December 2013; Price may change).

Kublai Millan is Davao's prolific artist as described by Wikipedia. He was born on July 8, 1974 in Cotabato City. (My brother was also born on 8th of July. Wow! Artists...) He finished Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines. (taken from wikipedia)

If you have visited Sultan Kudarat, you could find his work "KAMPILAN" and "RISEN CHRIST" in Tagum City.

If you happen to visit People's Park, Davao, you will see a lot of gigantic sculptures in the area. And those humongous work of art are products of his imaginations. Please check this out for People's Park Davao
http://joneeacedilla.blogspot.com/2013/03/davao-peoples-park-crocodile-park.html

The array of lovely framed works here is a proof that the artist has already explored his artistry in different genre. You may see in these creations that his designs varies from the type of materials he is using.

The drawings above may look like a simple drawing. However, if you take a closer look, aztec details was used to make a lovely and unique finish for the designs.

Coconut husks and twigs are indigenous materials or scrap for the eyes of common people but for our wonderful artist's mind, it is ART itself.

I was really fascinated how these weird looking arts look like. When I tried to go nearer, I found out that these are old screws, unused small parts of probably everything like small parts of karaoke machine or tv or fridge. How lovely is that!

Kublai Millan is definitely one of the artists that we, Filipinos could be proud of. Proud to be PINOY.

Don't forget to drop by Ponce Suites when you are in Davao. Have a lovely day everyone.

Leisure 64: Nail Candies

If there is something that we call "ARM CANDIES", I also have something in mind which I call "NAIL CANDIES". I used flocking powder available on my store for the nails of my beautiful friend.

This is very easy. All you have to do is follow the instructions below:

1. Prepare flocking powder with exactly the same color of your polish.
2. Put polish on your nails and while it is wet, sprinkle the flocking powder.
3. After a few seconds, press it some more on your nails.
4. Let it dry. DONE!

My lovely friend Miss Airesh.

Have a lovely day everyone!
