Leisure 11: Yellow Newspaper Nails

Good Friday everyone!

For my Holy Week special, I'm doing a yellow newspaper nail art. This is NOT original. I have seen a lot of nail art designers done this with a white polish. I just find it interesting and I got curious so I tried it on my nails.

Let's begin!

You will need:
Any polish you like (mine is yellow; white is better)
Alcohol
Cotton
Top Coat

How to do it:
1. Apply polish. I put yellow.
2. Wet a cotton or cotton ball with alcohol and apply it on your nails. Don't let it dry.
3. While the alcohol is still wet on your nails, cover your nails with newspaper. Let it stay for a few seconds.
4. Remove the newspaper. Apply top coat and you are done!

My vow for the Holy Week is NO SODA and NO MEAT for Good Friday, Black Saturday and Easter Sunday.

But I'm very please to share that it's been 2 weeks since I last drank soda.. My Aunt influenced me.

One piece of unsolicited advice:
If you like something, do it.
If you don't know how to do it then; ASK, LEARN and TRY IT..
Don't pretend you know it and you can do it without help.
There are things in life which at first glance, you thought you could do it ALONE.
But ended up not doing it right.
Besides, I won't bite you.
But your EGO will...

Leisure 10: Barenaked Nail Art Addiction

We're going naked today with our nails...

You will need:

Naked Polish / Barenaked Polish
Silver Polish
Another Polish (It should be glazed though...for the dots; anything will do)
Dotting Tool / Pointed Tip Ballpen
Top Coat

How to do it:

  1. Apply Barenaked Polish on your nails.
  2. Put a tape on your nail. It should be slanted if you want this design. But you can always be creative and make your own design. Apply Silver Polish on the uncovered area of you nail. When it's about to dry, carefully remove the tape.
  3. Using your dotting tool or pointed tip ball pen, put dots in between the naked and silver color. Or you could make a flower design if you would like to. Apply top coat.
  4. Done!!

Leisure 9: Nail Art (Flocking powder) & More

For an extremely boring Saturday, I tried to do something on my nails and on my cousin's nails..

Here goes my 1, 2, 3, done instruction:

You will need:
Polish (any color that matches your flocking powder)
Flocking powder (for a carpet-like touch)

How to do it:
1. Put the blue (the color of the polish I used) on the nail.
2. While still wet, sprinkle your flocking powder. In this case, I still use the blue flocking powder.
3. Let it dry. DO NOT PUT TOP COAT. It will ruin the design.
4. Done!

For people in General Santos City, I am selling FLOCKING POWDER. Just let me know for a very very affordable price.

For a closer look. Thanks for the visit my friend spider.

For my cousin's nails...
Design: Assorted / Sample
Model: Hanna Faye Deonoso
Designer: Jonee

(Melted Paint Design)
You will need:
Matte finish polish
Top coat
Polish of any colors
White Polish

How to do it:
1. Apply white color on nails and top it with matte finish polish for a dry look.
2. Apply any color of polish like on this case blue/yellow. It will serve as your melted paint.
3. When dry, apply top coat on the colors yellow and blue alone to make a shiny finish on these colors.
4. Done!

(Bloody Red)
You will need:
Black Polish
Red Polish
Top coat

How to do it:
1. Apply black polish on nails.
2. When it's already dry, apply red polish. Just do it like how you put your melted paint design.
3. Put top coat.
4. Done!

(Scarab)
You will need:
White Polish
Black Polish
Matte Finish Polish
Top Coat
Dotting tool

How to do it:
1. Apply white polish on nails and top it with matte finish for a dry look.
2. Using your dotting tool, draw a small circle at the top and big circle below the small circle. The small circle will serve as the head of the scarab and the big circle will represent the body.
3. Draw 3 legs on the left and 3 legs on the right. Apply top coat only on the drawn scarab. Applying the top coat only on the scarab will give emphasis on the scarab alone.
4. Done!

(Yin Yang)
You will need:
Black Polish
White Polish
Top Coat

How to do it:
1. Draw a curve using either your black or white polish. The curve should be the yin yang curve.
2. Apply black on the other side and white polish on the other side.
3. Place white dot on the black side and black dot on the white side. Finish it with top coat all over.
4. Done!

Leisure 7: Macro Photos

These photos were taken last week. I just forgot to share it. Some of my macro shots. Mission accomplished  for WORM collection! But I think, I will be hunting more insects. I love insects, worms and all that bugs! :)

Fresh corn

I love this kind of corn, really sweet.

fresh tomatoes and red onions

My sister's sunflower in full bloom.

Above is a beautiful sunflower. And below is this little grasshopper.

If you take a look at this photo real close... you will see there's a grasshopper and an ant.
It reminds me of Aesop's "The And and The Grasshopper" story.
It's a nice short story for children. It teaches kids and even adults about frugality.

This is a mulberry. We have a tree at the back of the house. It may look like a blackberry but it's different.
Blackberry is a small plant and more like a shrub while mulberry is a fruit tree.
This color gives you a hint that it is already ripe. When it's unripe, the color is pink / red.
It's about half an inch in size or probably almost an inch.

I don't know the exact name of this worm but I really love this worm.
It is a shy type. It curls when you touch it. When it's healthy, the color is red.
When it's about to die, it turns into black.

Earthworm.
I also love this invertebrate. This was the STAR of our study (my classmates and I) during high school.
We have a lot of like this in our backyard. This worm is a sign that the soil is healthy. It aids in decomposing rotten fruits, vegetables and animal manure.

That's it for today! For more of my photo shots, please visit the following:

Davao (People's Park & Crocodile Park)

Davao City is 3 hour ride from General Santos City. Davao is my second home; in fact it is a home away from home. I’ve been there for the nth time because I once lived and worked there.

One of those wonderful flowers in People's Park, Davao.

Aside from the fact that Davao offers a lot of jobs for its local people and those outside its territory, it is also a safe place to live. The government officials there really take good care of their people. They create jobs for people.

There are two common destinations people love exploring in Davao; Peoples’ Park and Davao Crocodile Park. These places offer work for locals and of course breathtaking sceneries for tourists. These two places are walking park and Animal Park which is a good epitome for the preservation of fauna and flora and Davao’s culture.

First stop – Peoples Park. This park is a huge walking park that allows everyone to see its beauty for free. Yup! You got it right, there is no entrance fee. However, their management is very strict. No sharp objects allowed, no drinking of alcoholic drinks and a lot more. But the rules are for the safety of everyone who wishes to enter this wonderful place.

With my boys during Christmas of 2012 at People's Park, Davao

Tita Joy Grace Maglasang and daughter Jelai.

Tita Amy Seno with daughters Anica and Alexa.

My sister Liza and brother Bryan.

They feature Kublai Milan’s work of art – the statues.

One of these days, I will visit Kublai Millan's house of art work. It's also in Davao.

They make the whole area so green and clean for the people and for the birds to visit them as well.

They have a place for water animals too like Koi fishes.

They have a mini rainforest with variety of plants; plants that either grows high like a tree or blooms like flowering plants.

They have a park for the kids to enjoy. Sculptures of some cartoon characters that invite children. Moms do not need to worry because they have a clinic that ensures safety for everyone.

They have dancing fountain that really looks lovely and fascinating at night because of the lights. They have a very nice bridge and a wide area of pure grass where you can sit down and relax.

-
Next stop is somewhere we could fill our empty stomachs. Yellow Cab, SM Davao.

--

Next stop is Davao Crocodile Park. You may ride your private vehicle or a cab/taxi to get there. Don’t worry, drivers got ID’s and receipts for your payments. It's their policy. Plus, they are friendly.

Upon entering Davao Crocodile Park’s area, you could already see the Zorbing area and Air Soft Battle Field. We didn’t get the chance to try it though but somebody promised me we will try it. I am looking forward to that day.

There is a portion there which shows the culture of the tribes of Mindanao. Philippines is divided into three: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Davao along with General Santos belongs to Mindanao. It shows the houses of the early Mindanawons. They even have fire dancing show at night. Preservation of culture is a must! This is the only way children in the future would know what existed before them.

Traditional B'laan House

Photos of the early people in Davao mounted on the wall with their handmade picture frames.

Letting these kids experience what it's like to be inside this house made of pure tree.

Another portion is the crocodile park itself. They have separate areas of giant crocodiles, yearling stage crocodiles and other animals like: Siberian tiger, Philippine mouse deer, reptiles, birds and a lot more. They even offer something scary but surely a once in a lifetime experience -- to walk on a thin rope and creatures below are awaiting for your fall -- the hungry crocodiles!

I don't know what this animal is.

 Reptiles

 Philippines Mouse Deer or Pilandok

 A kind of an Eagle.
Did you know that you could see the Philippine Eagle in Davao?
They have a park for the Philippine Eagles.

I was really surprise to see this. It's a character in Lion  King named TIMON singing "Hakuna Matata".
And we have that here. I just can't believe that creature is real!

So this is how their photo booth look like.

That ends for your tour in Davao. There will be more to come. I will be sharing some next time.

Hope you had fun and more reason to visit Philippines!

I would definitely love to read your comments.

Have a great day!
